Teche Valley Seafood is a family
owned and operated crawfish farm located in Saint Martinville,
Louisiana. Our family has been raising crawfish since the late
1960's. What started as a small job for teenage children for
extra spending money has become a growing business. We
continued to expand acreage for rice and crawfish production.
In 1983, Teche Valley Seafood was
built to sell our own products. We sold mainly peeled crawfish
and live crawfish. Our business grew more and more to a whole
sale and retail market. We now farm several hundred acres and
ship thousands of pounds of live crawfish every year to retail and
wholesale customers on a local and national basis.
In 1998, our
family members were honored as crawfish farmers of the year by the
Louisiana Crawfish Farmers Association. In two straight years,
we have also received Award of Merit for Outstanding Accomplishments
in Resource Conservation in 1996 and 1997 by St. Martin SWCD.
We have participated in research projects with the Louisiana State
University and University of Louisiana at Lafayette by allowing them
to use our crawfish ponds to conduct their research project, which
related to water quality and bird habitats.
